About Age Concern
Age Concern Camposol, officially known as Age Concern Costa Cálida, was established in 2009 to support English-speaking residents over the age of 50 who face isolation, health issues and language barriers. What began as a small group of neighbours has grown into a life-saving community network run entirely by unpaid volunteers.
Their goal is to help people stay independent and feel at home in Spain. The "Keep in Touch" programme and the Golden Connection Club in Camposol combat loneliness through home visits and regular social meetings.
They lend mobility aids such as wheelchairs and walkers to residents recovering from surgery or illness, and volunteers help with Spanish paperwork including Padrón registration, health service applications and translating documents. They also accompany people to medical appointments and visit residents in local hospitals.
Based at their Social Centre in Sector C (Avenida de Los Covachos), they offer confidential advice on UK and Spanish benefits, residential care and bereavement support.
Age Concern receives no government funding from Spain or the UK. It is funded entirely through local fundraising, such as quizzes and gala balls, and donations from residents.
They are not an emergency service and do not provide clinical nursing or home care. Instead they act as a problem solver for the community, pointing residents toward the right official channels and specialist services.
