About Andrea's Animal Rescue
Andrea's Animal Rescue (AAR) was started in August 2008 and was formed primarily to care for mistreated donkeys. Together with the Henrietta Foundation, it now cares for over 100 donkeys and ponies, as well as some dogs and cats, with 10 acres of land to roam freely and a place to call home.
The charity is named in memory of Henrietta, a female donkey found abandoned by the side of the motorway with several severe tumours. Her treatment at the Murcia veterinary hospital was estimated at 2,500 euros, so the team began fundraising and selling unwanted items at local car boot sales, which in turn led to the opening of their first shop. Sadly Henrietta passed away due to her illness and a blood disorder, and the Henrietta Foundation was formed so that her passing would not go unnoticed.
Andrea's Animal Rescue runs two charity shops which help generate the funds needed to feed and care for the animals. The rescue relies entirely on donations, sponsorship and the support of volunteers. You can sponsor an animal or find out more on their website and Facebook page.
