About Forget Me Not
Forget Me Not Mazarrón is a volunteer-led charity based on the Camposol urbanisation that provides essential respite care for people living with Alzheimer's, dementia and other long-term illnesses. The group gives sufferers a safe, engaging environment while giving their carers a much-needed break.
It was established to fill a gap in local social services for the expatriate and local community in the Mazarrón area, and has grown into one of Camposol's most recognised charities alongside groups like FAST and MABS. It works closely with Mazarrón City Council, which provides and maintains the meeting facilities, and remains entirely reliant on donations and the work of unpaid volunteers.
It is inclusive of all nationalities, though English is the primary language spoken. Trained volunteers and experienced nurses supervise attendees, giving carers a few hours of free time. Meetings include board games, social chats and light exercise, with drinks throughout the session and a hot meal.
The group meets at the Cultural Centre on Sector B of Camposol, where the atmosphere is kept vibrant and joyful. A drop-in nursing service is available on Mondays and Thursdays from 10:00am to 1:15pm.
