Autumn at MABS Mazarrón
Well, what a summer it has been. We have had an incredibly busy few months here at MABS Mazarrón, and we are currently supporting 106 patients living with cancer. Providing this support takes time, care and, of course, money. Fortunately, our fabulous fundraising team has been working incredibly hard, alongside some very generous donations and funding from our wonderful supporters, including local businesses, groups and individuals.
A summer of fundraising success
Our ever-popular DABS for MABS, Bingo and Afternoon Tea events have been sell-outs every time. A huge thank you to everyone who has joined us. Clearly, a winning combination of bingo, a cuppa and cake is difficult to resist. Together, these events have raised a whopping 3,198 euros over the summer season.
The wonderful Women of Camposol group held an End of Summer Fiesta and very kindly donated the profits, along with the proceeds from raffle ticket sales, to MABS. This fantastic effort raised a massive 1,090 euros. Thank you so much to everyone involved.
In September, we held our World Cancer Coffee Morning in the beautiful garden of our Respite Home. We are incredibly fortunate to have such a lovely setting for outdoor events, and we do our best to make the most of it.
Spreading the word about MABS
Bev, Zue, Bonny and Claire popped over to Hacienda del Álamo Mujeres for an information session, explaining the role of MABS and the support we can offer. They even managed to recruit a few new volunteers along the way, proof that our enthusiasm is contagious. If you are hosting an event and would like us to pop along to explain how MABS can support people in your community, please do get in touch. We are always happy to spread the word.
What is coming up
We still have a busy few weeks ahead before the end of the year. Our Facebook page has updates about this year’s annual Race for Life. Whether you choose the 4K or 8K route, and whether you prefer to walk, jog or run, everyone is welcome. The atmosphere at this event is wonderfully positive every year, so just come along and take part.
Get into the Christmas spirit
Our annual Christmas Raffle tickets are now on sale at just 2 euros each, with some wonderful prizes up for grabs this year, including a beautiful handmade rocking horse. Tickets are available from reception at our Respite Centre, and the raffle will be drawn on 7 December. You never know, you might win something lovely.
Christmas Fayre at the MABS Totana shop
The MABS Totana shop is holding its first ever Christmas Fayre. Come along on Saturday 28 November, 10am to 2pm, at Avenida Juan Carlos I 50, Totana.
There will be unique gifts, fashion, furniture, crafts and decorations to shop, and festive treats to taste (English, Spanish and Moroccan). All proceeds support the MABS cancer charity, so come along with friends.
